NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN FOR POSTHUMOUS INDUCTEES TO THE PLASTICS HALL OF FAME

Nominations for induction into the Plastics Hall of Fame are now being accepted by The Plastics Academy.  Nominations are to be made for deceased individuals who made an outstanding contribution to the plastics industry.

"We welcome nominations from any interested party," said John R. Kretzschmar, Chairman of the Academy.  "We have a nomination form that simplifies the process and is available from the Academy Office at the National Plastics Center in Leominster, Mass.  The nominating process is ensures our ability to identify and honor those individuals who made significant contributions that helped our industry reach the highest level of esteem and contribution to our industry."

Those wishing to make a nomination should obtain a form that includes criteria for nomination from the Academy office in Leominster or from a member of the Academy Board of Directors.  All nominations will be screened by the Officers and Board of Directors.  A committee comprised of all living Hall of Fame members will select up to five individuals for induction to the Plastics Hall of Fame in a ceremony scheduled to be held at the Society of Plastics Engineers' Annual Technical Conference (ANTEC) in 2008.

The Plastics Hall of Fame was founded in 1972 to honor industry members whose extraordinary accomplishments contributed to the growth of the plastics industry.  Separate ceremonies for living and posthumous inductees are held every three years.  To date, 144 people have been inducted.

In 1986, The Plastics Academy, a non-profit organization, was founded to administer the Hall of Fame and induct new individuals.  Anyone may join the Academy; annual membership dues are $75.  Forms for membership to the Academy or for nominating inductees for the Hall of Fame can be obtained from The Plastics Academy located at 210 Lancaster Street, Leominster, MA 01453.  The phone number is 978.537.9529 and the facsimile number is 978.537.3220.
